Summertime Barefoot Sandals

Summertime Barefoot Sandals

Sweet little toes! (Oh and mine are sweet too! ha ha)

At one of the last Vintage sales that my SUPER Talented mother-in-law Becky(major brownie points!!) and I  had a booth at, a lady came to our booth and wanted to see if we could make some of these for her.  I had never seen a “barefoot sandal” and was instantly excited!  These are so cute for going barefoot in the summer at the pool, the beach or just around the house!

I am excited to say that this is my first tutorial on video!! Yeah me! hee hee :)  Watch the video for instructions and scroll under it to see the step by step written ones too. AND No making fun of the country accent! Promise???!!

I hope you enjoyed the video of my feet! Ha Ha

What you will need to make your own barefoot sandal:

  1. Crochet needle
  2. Stretchy elastic cord
  3. Beads (optional)
  4. scissors
  • Your first step is to do a basic crochet stitch like I showed you in the video.  You can also visit AllFreeCrochet.com and they have some great tutorials to get you started.  Ok, Ok, if I am being honest here, I actually had to go there and watch the video because it had been so long since I have crocheted!
  •   After you have stitched about 20 loops in the basic chain stitch, start to measure it around your ankle.
  • Once you have it long enough to go around your ankle, connect the two ends together by putting your crochet needle through the other end and pulling your next loop through the last loop.  Make sure you do this at least 2 times because this section will get pulled a lot.
  • Now do your basic chain stitch the length of the top of your foot and then loop it around your toe to measure how long it will need to be.
  • Then repeat the step to connect the two sections.
Here is a close up picture of the toe section so you can get a good look at it.

Bucket Lists and Heros – I just saw one of my heros!

Wayne Dyer Live in Atlanta at the I Can Do It Seminar

Wayne Dyer Live in Atlanta at the I Can Do It Seminar

Do you have a bucketlist?  Do you even know what one is?  I watched the movie “The Bucketlist” last year and it got me to thinking about the things I would want to do before I go.  A bucketlist is essentially a list of all the things you would like to do before you “kick the bucket”.  I DO not intend to do that anytime soon though, If I can help it. Ha Ha :)

I have started a mental list of things I would like to do which includes: Work on a Disney Project, Become a songwriter (Checked that one off!!!!), See Europe, See Snoop Dogg ( I know I am weird! Hee Hee) and PDiddy would be cool too, write a novel ( I am several chapters into my first one!! Yeah GO ME!!), See Wayne Dyer speak live (Checked that one off now too!!!).  A bucketlist, in my opinion, is an ever changing list of things you would love to be able to do.  Don’t limit yourself to things that only seem possible!  If you are 80 and would love to add becoming a professional football player to your list, PUT IT ON THERE!  I know that seems silly but you never know what opportunities can arise if you just “tell the universe” about your dreams!  You could wind up winning an all expense paid trip to the Super Bowl with a chance to be the ball girl during a game! It may not be the exact thing you want but you may just get that much closer to your dreams!

My little trip to Atlanta to see Wayne Dyer was a major item on my Bucketlist!  On Christmas day I opened a very large box to find one loan piece of paper in it as my gift.  It was a ticket to see Wayne at a conference called “I can do it”!  I was so excited and nervous all at the same time.  I have never left my babies for that long and to be honest was a little freaked out at the thought.  I wound up asking my mother-in-law if she would like to go with me which made the trip a lot more fun and helped me to not be lonely and cry the whole way.  I actually did better than what I thought and since my 3 lil babies Love!! their daddy, they never even missed me! (Which was a lil disappointing! LOL)

So, I did not get to meet him but at the last minute before he walked off stage, I did get to run up there and take a very grainy picture with him in the background.

Yes, I am a dork! :)

If you do not know much about Wayne Dyer, you should look him up! I have just downloaded some of his work on Itunes.  I love to hear his inspirational speakings on how to live your life with passion and direction while being lead by your spirit, God and the universe!  I always feel so refreshed and positive after listening to him! He also just did a movie called the “Shift” so check that out too.

While in Atlanta Becky and I stayed at the Omni Hotel and it was very lavish! I got a great deal on Hotels.com and was very pleased with how nice it was.  Knowing that my mother-in-law Becky was scared of heights, I called ahead and asked for a room on the top floor! LMBO!

I am scared of heights too but not in this case! The views from the 28th floor were amazing :)

We walked to some of the shops down on Peachtree street and went to the AmericasMart for their Apparel Mart that just so happened to be this weekend.  Becky was super excited because she has always wanted to see the mart! We were both shocked to see all the “vintage” styles are so popular now, like the Vintage craft shows we do.

There is a little store on Peachtree Street that we loved!  It is like a mini version of the Strawberry Patch’s Vintage Barn Sale smack dab in the middle of Atlanta!
